Fairlee

Fairlee

Peregrine Falcon
Falco peregrinus

Fairlee passed away in March 2026 after nine wonderful years as a VINS Ambassador. She was a true gem and will be dearly missed. Consider adopting in Fairlee’s memory to support all the animals at VINS.

Fairlee was a local, coming to VINS from Fairlee, Vermont, an area known for peregrine falcon nesting. Fairlee was found in April of 2017, unable to fly due to a wing injury. With x-rays, VINS rehabilitators diagnosed a fractured wrist joint. Despite treatment, Fairlee’s wing never healed exactly right. The resulting very slight wing droop made it impossible for Fairlee to fly and hunt at the high speeds of a falcon. Instead, she observed visitors from her cliff-like perches while serving as an exhibit ambassador.
