Eastern Box Turtle
Terrapene carolina carolina
Jersey is a female Eastern Box Turtle and was previously kept as a pet by a family in New Jersey for 30 years. She had been purchased from a pet store, but she was likely obtained illegally from the wild. Eventually, Jersey was enlisted to the care of Christina Swaan at the Northeastern Reptile Welfare League. In 2018, she was transferred to VINS and became an education animal ambassador.
