Orange
American Crow
Corvus brachyrhynchos
Orange the American Crow arrived at VINS as a young bird from Orange County, Vermont in 2023. Found as a fledgling, a human family took him in for two months. During this time, improper housing and nutrition caused severe damage to Orange’s feet and feathers. In addition, Orange became imprinted on humans.
Orange is a perfect example of why wild birds should only be cared for by licensed rehabilitators. Today, Orange serves as an ambassador for his species, wowing VINS visitors with his intelligence and social nature while helping them understand how much these birds deserve our respect.
