Ferrisburgh the American Kestrel was brought to VINS in 2019 after he was caught by wildlife rehabilitators in Ferrisburgh, VT as a young bird harassing people for food. He had been accidentally imprinted on humans, and thus was non-releasable. American Kestrels are a small falcon species renowned for their speed and bright coloration, pursuing prey like doves and grasshoppers through grassland habitats. Ferrisburgh is a wonderful ambassador who has captured the hearts of many visitors with close-up views of an amazing predator.
