Fallston
Cooper’s Hawk
Accipiter cooperii
Fallston the Cooper’s Hawk is originally from Fallston, Maryland, where he was rehabilitated in 2001 after a collision with an unknown object. He has a permanently injured left wing, nerve damage to his tail, and has also suffered neurological trauma. These injuries affected Fallston’s ability to fly and hunt, so he was transferred to VINS in 2009. As an exhibit ambassador, he enjoys a life without pressure to hunt while still showing off how Cooper’s hawks pluck at their prey with the bird parts provided to him for enrichment.
