Fairchance was transferred to VINS from the Avian Conservation Foundation of Appalachia in Morgantown, West Virginia, in 2019. She was rescued after a suspected vehicle collision and brought in for care. Ultimately, she was unable
to fly well enough for release. Fairchance is often perched on top of a tree in her enclosure, looking like a dried clump of leaves. Sometimes she perches more in the open to doze in a sunbeam.
