Erie was found and rescued when she was just a youngster, sitting on the side of the road in Ithaca, NY. She was suffering from head trauma, emaciation, dehydration and feather damage. Erie was taken in by rehabilitators at the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center in East Aurora, NY. After some time in care, it was clear that Erie wasn’t going to fully recover from her neurological impairment, so she remained in captivity. She transferred to VINS in March of 2019 where she soon became comfortable with life as an exhibit ambassador.
