Decatur is an Eastern Screech Owl who was bred for conservation and education purposes at the Illinois Raptor Center in Decatur, Illinois. His parents are both non-releasable, rehabilitated screech owls, and their young are given to nature centers around the country to help teach about owl biology and conservation. Though he has no physical injuries, he was purposefully socialized to humans so he is a comfortable and eager participant in his education ambassador duties.
