Chittenden

Chittenden

Peregrine Falcon
Falco peregrinus

Chittenden arrived at VINS from Northstream Wildlife Rescue in Monkton, Vermont in April 2020. He suffered trauma to his left eye after it was suspected he was hit by a car. Peregrine Falcons rely heavily on their sight to properly capture and restrain their prey specifically because their hunting style relies on chasing and catching prey midair. So despite the fact that Chittenden is fully flighted, he cannot be released back into the wild. Chittenden can often be seen perched at the front of the enclosure above visitor’s heads or chowing down on his diet during feeding time.
